Picture Details

This photo shows an icon of the Cromarty Firth.

The Fyrish Monument, sits at the top of Fyrish Hill, between Evanton and Alness, in Ross-Shire, Scotland.

If you look carefully at the left of the picture you will see the Cromarty Firth, heading towards Dingwall.

When I set out in the morning I didn't expect to take this photo, as it was before sunrise and didn't look promising. It was a cold, frosty, January morning. As I climbed Fyrish Hill, the sun started coming up over the Black Isle and by the time I reached the top, it was perfectly positioned for this shot.

If you want to see further photos taken on the same day please look at the Lochan photos, and "Sunrise at Fyrish".
