Picture Details
As you drive down the A835, towards the Maryburgh Roundabout, you will see Garrie Island on the River Conon. Garrie Island, at the time of writing, is a candidate SAC (Special Area of Conservation).
It is an example of a relatively unmodified dynamic floodplain woodland system. Approximately 55 hectares of the island qualfies as an alluvial alder woodland.
